Sino-America student symposium was held in Overseas Education College/International College

On 25th, March, an relaxing and happy Sino-America student exchange symposium was held in No. 401 room, office building at Overseas Education College, undergraduate representative of International College Dublin program had and exchange in studying, living and Sino-American culture with the student representative form American Eckerd College.

At first, Secretary of League general branch Liu Wanyu and group leader Professor Edward Grasso from America gave speeches in which they indicated that they hope that through this kind of activities to strengthen students’ reorganization of Sino-American culture and understanding of two countries’ university life and study, and in the meanwhile to strengthen the friendship between two countries’ students.

Later, Sino-American students had an happy discussion about the study in Xiamen University, after school activities, the two countries’ history and social development, etc.

Chinese students said that the atmosphere on the symposium was very relaxed and happy, it exercised their English skills, opened their eyes, and they established deep friendship. “through a few minutes conversation, I found it is not that nervous as imaged, instead, I feel relaxed and spoke freely. And American students act as not that restraining as Chinese people dose. The conversation makes great sense in promoting two parties understanding of the culture in the two countries.”, said the student representative He Han after the symposium.  

The American students also indicated that they were happy to have the chance to interact with Chinese people of the same age. During communicating with Chinese students, they learnt customs and culture diversity in different countries and Chinese university student’s study condition, it was helpful for they their study and exchange in Xiamen University.

Finally, the symposium ended in two countries’ student affectionate leave. Both parties’ students hoped Overseas Education College can organize this kind of Chinese and Foreign student exchange activities very often.
