Medical Service

• If overseas students of Xiamen University are ill, they may get medical treatment at the Xiamen University Hospital. Students receiving full scholarships from the Chinese government and those partial scholarship students receiving free medical treatment do not need to pay for the medicine. If the medical situation requires, the patient must receive permission from the hospital to transfer to a different, appointed hospital for treatment; otherwise the student must pay the fee him/herself. Self-supporting students must pay their own medical fees.
• Overseas students must themselves pay for: dentures, fillings, eyeglasses, childbirth, abortion, plastic surgery, purchase of nutritional supplements, and treatment of common chronic diseases predating arrival in China.
• Costs of injuries or casualties in accidents arising from overseas students' disobeying school disciplines or laws are paid entirely by the responsible parties.
• If following types of students are hospitalized due to illness, please contact the Overseas Student Office as soon as possible so that we could consult with the insurance company in time: students with full government-scholarship of China, partial scholarship students receiving free medical treatment and self-financed students who have joined the medical insurance program
